Wow kevin,

8 mpg, sounds like it's running RICH!

daddio is certainly right about the P/S leak, it's in a TSB, etc.

You obviously fixed that, right?

HOw did you get into the cat to gut it out? And why would you want to when it has 02 sensors?
There are 02 sims, look online for them.

I've heard of aftermarket cats even cheaper, sorry don't where though, good luck on the search. YOu sure it's the cat, and not the sensor? I think you said you replaced the sensor, sure you got the right one?

Hi Texas Todd
1st started with engine light and bad mpgs, checked code found bad sensor on left bank.
changed sensor went about 3-400 miles ran good then light came on again.
Took to garage code came up bad sensor again while removing it found oil in connector clean out sealed back of plug on new sensor repaired oil leak on p/s but light stayed on then cat started knocking so bad first thought engine went.
found knocking was inside cat,put truck on hoist
cut cat removed insides they were broken and loose.
