Do a search for thermastat(or look in the heating and colling section). I find it hard to believe your local Autozone, Advance, NAPA, or Pep Boys doesn't have a 180 Thermastat. You must live in the middle of nowhere.

Skitter,

If you ask them, sometimes their books don't have applications for different engines, and it still will work fine.

What's it going on?

Summit, Jegs, Mancini Racing all have web stores. Mancini is strictly Mopar and great prices too.

sorry, i just read your earlier post. it has a 4.7
don't think 3.9, 5.2, 5.9 are the same as 4.7?

The 4.7, takes the same t-stat as the magnum engines.

5.2, 3.9, 5.9, all work, did for me.

At autozone, where I got my RobertShaw, there's no listing for a 4.7, 180 t-stat.

Back when Bernd posted here, he told me it would work, and he's right.

NOw I heard many of the AZ's are no longer carrying that t-stat. I'm sure there is one that will work, but NEVER ask them for a 180 stat for your 4.7. Unless the tech knows his stuff on this engine, he'll tell you they don't have it, when it's hanging in in wrapper on the wall!

is the thermostat the same for all 5.9 trucks? The auto part stores here do not list a 180 stat for my 02 R/T.

I stuck one for a older magnum engine into my 4.7

That 160° T-Stat I used works like a charm. But I do think that without the extension on the sensor like the original t-stat had, my 160 is probably more like a 170. And those using a 180 without the extension are probably getting it to work close to the stock 190 to 195.

With my electric fan only, and my home made electronic control my temp runs around 170°

My gauge barely gets off of the C except when I tow up a hill.
