I HAVE HAD MY 5.2 V8 FOR ABOUT A YEAR AND NOW WHEN I FIRST CRANK MY TRUCK AND GET UP TO ABOUT 40 MPH MY TRUCK DOESNT WANT TO SHIFT. IF YOU LISTEN TO IT IT MAKES A POP AND THEN IT KICKS INTO GEAR REALLY HARD AND REVS UP????

TOOK IT TO THE DODGE PLACE AND THEY SAID THERE WAS NOTHING WRONG WITH IT AND THEN THEY CALLED ME BACK AND SAID THAT I NEEDED A $2200 TRANSMISSION!!!

I TOOK IT TO A TRANSMISSION SHOP AND THEY FLUSHED IT OUT AND SAID THAT THE CODES WERE READING RIGHT, BUT MY TRUCK IS STILL NOT FIXED??

Does your truck only have difficulty shifting when it (the transmission) is cold? Does it shift better after it has been driven a while?

Mine has a bit of trouble with cold shifts. After it has gone through the gears once it performs flawlessly. 4 or 5 years ago we took the truck to a couple trans shops to have the transmission checked out. They claimed there was nothing wrong with the transmission.

From further readings, Dodge has decided that this helps the transmission warm up faster. Either way, 5 years and around 80 thousand miles later my transmission is still running strong and doesn't like to shift until the transmission has warmed up.

If it shifts fine after it has warmed up, and has always acted that way I wouldn't worry too much. If this behavior has just started, I would have it checked out by a different shop.

A shop first stating that you have no problem and then going to a complete rebuild/swap sounds bizarre. I would hesitate bringing my truck to them again.

When it is cold out, the truck won't shift into overdrive and will rev really high to help warm up the transmission, and rear end etc. It's normal. After a few minutes it should shift just fine.
