Today I tried to install a T-stat and I had a bunch of problems. The first problem was that I have no idea how to take the plastic shield off by the radiator and I searched for this but nobody explains how to do this. Could anybody help me out? The other thing is that when I loosened the two bolts, I couldn't get the hose with the housing out because of the little metal tab on the housing. Any suggestion or tips will be appreciated.

If you have a 5.9, then the thermostat is on top of the intake manifold. Just follow the upper radiator hose to where it connects to the engine - it's under there.

You shouldn't have to take any plastic cover off. All you do is take the 2 bolts out of where the coolant runs into the intake and there is your thermostat. It is about a 2 min job.
