Hey Guys...my husband and I have the 04 Ram GTX version of the BOSS. I am not sure of the specs on the Ford but here's about the Dodge.
Dodge sent 433 '04 Rams some quad cabs, some 4x4, mostly reg. cabs to LA West (Choochoo Designs) and did more or less a trim package and exhaust system, no mods as superchargers, etc (all aftermarket). The production number is located on the driver side door frame. For 2004 they made 211 Hemi Orange, 97 Sublime Green, 72 Plum Crazy Purple, 53 Banana Yellow, how they got the numbers were from customer orders and obviously more wanted the orange and the rest were painted and sent to dealers. GTX & Boss are not like the RumbleBee or Daytona, these are factory built. The Rumblebee guys are having a bit of a time with the true production numbers. Dealers sold the vehicles as limited production of 4000. It has since been an absolute joke. Dodge cannot give an exact number (lawsuit pending) as there are guys out there with prod. # something like 4600. In 2005, I think the production number stayed the same (433?) but they changed the name to GTXtreme - the GTX world didn't much like the use of the 60-70's GTX.

If you are curious of what the GTX's and Rumblebees look like they are all on Rumblebee.org forum.

The other thing about the GTX, there are no sticker kits such as there are for the (WannaBees). LA West only gives the needed accessories to the listed owner on the certificate. Doesn't mean someone isn't making one but it is not available to just anyone to pretend.

if you go into lawets's website, they show pictures of a SUPERCHARGED boss, it is a roush s/c. ford never s/c the 2002 boss's, but did on the 03' and limited on the 04's. they also authorized individual dealerships to s/c the boss and allowed them to say it was a factory option as long as it was a new boss, not a trade in or an older model of the boss (i.e.-if they still had 02's when the 03's came in, they weren't allowed to s/c the 02's any longer). i know it sounds wierd and stupid, but there you go. it's a good truck, as long as it is s/c'ed. if not, buy a lightning.

I do not know if anybody else said this, but the Lightnings 5.4 is a totally different motor than just a regular 5.4 Triton. The lightning uses a DOHC setup and is more like the Ford GT's motor. I think that the Boss uses the 5.4 DOHC setup, but just not supercharged. Oh well, I would rather have a 318 supercharged 5-speed anyday. I saw an older truck where they were supercharging the new F-150s and only 5 lbs of boost. That is so weak.

From what i know a BOSS is just a non supercharged lighting with different cosmetics in and outside. A 5.4 without a supercharger just plain weak, BOSS's arent quick left stock or with few mods plain and simple. When my R/T was stock i ripped a few easly of the line and just pulled away.

lightning and any other modular engine will blow plugs if people overtighten the plugs...its their own fault not fords (the older modular engine were weak in those area but have been improved since then), ive put 270,000kms on a company 01 expedition with the 5.4 sonce 01, and 110,000kms on my 03 f150 sport with 4.6....both vehciles were always properly maintained and only problems was a transmission on the expedition @ 140,000kms...i blame speeding

I just purchased a '02 BOSS F-150

here are the specs so those of you who are curious can know full effect

-F-150 XLT
-Standard Cab
-Short Bed, Step-side
-Boss Decals
-Body Kit
-20" wheels
-A.R.E. tonneau cover (although I'm NOT sure if this was part of the factory upgrade)
-40/60 leater seats with superb detail
-yellow carbon fiber (possible imitation) inserts in the interior
-non-fuctional ram-air hood
-BONE STOCK 5.4L Triton V-8 (NO SUPERCHARGER)
-Exhaust system (I don't know that producing company)

all that aside...it's a SWEET vehicle, it has some major punch (big heavier duty engine in a light-weight 2WD truck) and it gets attention. (cops included)

P.S. I eat dodges with it.
(get over it boys)

Sh!t, I have ripped on some 5.4 Tritons in my V6 on the highway. Is yours a 5-speed or a Automatic? The motors are tough, but not that though.

Does anyone know the production numbers for these Boss trucks? if so, what years were they produced and how many each year? I have tried every way i know how to find out about them and keep hitting brick walls... Thanks in advance!

Yea, thanks for the sarcasm there buddy... Of course I checked all the F150 forums first. I think the statement "I have tried every way I know to find out about them" would indicate that. But maybe you missed that because you were to busy trying to think of some lame crap to say. This thread and the replies that followed actually had more helpful info than anywhere else that I've seen. So yea... If anyone has any HELPFUL information on this subject it would be so greatly appreciated. Thanks!
