I've got a 96 Dak SLT with 5.2 and the A518LU tranny. A local shop has pronounced my tranny dead. Its been rebuilt so many times I want a different core built for the truck. Question is, will a '97-up A518 work with my truck's electronics?
And what parts are available to beef up the tranny? I've heard the front pump and front planets are weak in this tranny. I plan on using a TCI 2300 stall converter and a TransGo shift kit. What other parts do I need to upgrade? And what year trannys will work?
Help, I need my truck for work.
