I've got a 2000 4.7L and I installed the 3923's and my engine seemed to run a little better. Smoother idle and better part-throttle response. But, I thought that changing the plugs was more of a pain than it should have been so I switched to Iridium plugs by NGK. They run as well as the Autolites but, will last much longer. The Platinums will last longer than the copper plugs but, since they require more voltage to spark and don't conduct as well as copper, they probably won't run as well as the Autolites. If you don't mind changing your plug more often and like saving money, go with the Autolite 3923. I doubt you're going to find something that works better. Even my expensive Iridiums ($45 for 8) don't run any better. I just don't want to have to change plugs for a long time and can afford the Iridiums.

At around 37K, I switched to 3923, copper, when installing my hO mainfold.

the stock champions all looked good color wide, but the all nad significant electrode wear. I'm sure they would have lasted much longer, but I was already in there, and heard so much aobut the 3923's. I didn't really see any difference, gapped them at 040. Someone posted they worked better at 035, haven't got around to that yet.

I just changed out my Bosch plat +4s, 4418`s, back to the stock Champions. I lost one mile per gallon and idle was worse.(never that great anyway) Bosch`s web site says they require LESS voltage for quicker starts. Also I believe they are still copper core plugs but with platinum tips and electrode so they won`t cook your coils because of the resistance of platinum like some people believe. At least they didn`t cook mine after 15k. Some people have better luck than others with them, mine are going back in.

Copper or Platinum is ok if you're not looking for max performance and durability. I suggest you get a set of these beauties:

That's right, a Polonium core! Sure, it's radioactive, but what's a little hair loss compared to the 40+ HP gain? And the half-life of these babies guarantees they'll last a good long time!

Switched from nearly new / properly gapped 3924s to regular Bosch platinums and picked up a solid 2mpg highway.
