Getting ready to install M1, F&B 50mm TB, MSD 6A and MSD coil, Accel brass cap & rotor, taylor wires and Autolite 3923's. Already have K&N.

1997 5.2 4x4 Auto. I live in Virginia and I'm wondering about emissions. Anyone with a similar situation run into problems at inspection time?

Thanks

I would say that would improve your emissions. You may burn more fuel but it should be burning the fuel more completely. I'd worry about MPG rather tahn emmissions.

Yeah, your emissions should be find. Plus your fuel economy should go up as long as you don't have a heavy foot. Since you will burn the fuel more completely, it wont take as much gas to do the same job.

I just read the info at http://www.deq.state.va.us/mobile/homepage.html I think you are going to be O.K. They do the OBDII check. The only problem I can see is the MSD will set a soft code that MAY cause you to fail. The code will be P0351 Ignition Coil A Primary/Secondary Circuit if you get this and they fail you just get a MSD Tach adapter wire it in and you should be good. HTH

Thanks for the replys - exactly what I was hoping for. Lew360, I did get a tach adapter with the MSD and plan on installing it as well. I heard about the possibility of getting a code error so I went ahead and ordered it just to be safe, but I wasn't thinking in terms of emissions when I ordered it. I was thinking that it may cause a check engine light or something like that so that's why I got it - I'm glad I did now and it looks pretty simple to install. Thanks for the link I'll check it out. Did you have any problems with the MSD6A? Did you check out the Kenne Bell flash vs. the Mopar PCM when you got the PCM? I think that will be my next mod but I'm waiting to see how everything else works first.

Can I jump in here, I have a 01 QC 4.7 with slight mods 360 intake, autolite 3923, and gibson single. Does anyone know when I add a KRC cams and 4.10 gears if it will fail my inspection in Maryland?

Luv the info and the site

Thanks

jeffb, The msd code is a soft code so it doesn't set the MIL. I haven't had any problems with my MSD at all. The Mopar PCM is made by Mopar, cost less than a Kenne Bell and no down time sending PCM out so that made my desicion easy. Plus I have a personal Problem with Kenne Bell in general.

cloknem, You shouldn't as long as don't have a check engine light. Maryland uses the OBDII as well. I live in Maryland and both my other cars, 99 Crown Vic and a 96 Neon, were done with the data cable.

thanks

The cams may set an MIL depending on what cams you are going to use. Some of the KRC cams require a custom flash to run correctly. The gears need a gear box or the speedo will read wrong and may set the ABS light.

Thanks, Lew360 I am looking at KRC 200 cam or Mopar HO, I guess now. I want to mod but don't want the mil ligts, downtime, and extra costs. Welcome to the real world, huh.
