I have been in both setups on a 4.7 and have also heard a Ravin but not driven one with a Ravin system.

The Magnaflow is a tough mellow kind of loud. The flowmaster I was in was an SUV 50-series, it was louder but definitely not mellow, it did not cancel out some of the gurgling-like noise when revving and letting off the gas. The Magnaflow made those gurgling noises almost non-existent. As far as driving them both, there were no power differences that I could feel. Both felt strong.

The Ravin I saw on a truck that Midas uses as their "part" or "delivery" truck. Sounded very strong with the Z-33 series! Very close to a flowmaster tone, just slightly different, it is a little more mellow than a flowmaster.

I am leaning toward the Ravin split rear exit. I talked with Midas and they are very precise with how they install the system, and you can watch them install it as well. Cost here in PA was $300 including two stainless 18" 3" tips out the back.

The Flowmaster 70 reduces floorboard noise and gives a mellow sound. Easy to live with year after year.

I installed the FLOWMASTER 40 seies but I found the drone to be a pain. It droned up hills, down hills, on the flat, around corners, basically all the time. Swapped it for a MAGNAFLOW 18" (24") alum muffler and it is much quieter. I felt no power difference and the truck is much more comfortable to drive. Give it the gas and you can then hear it but at the idle just a nice rumble.
Recommend the MAGNAFLOW anyday.

I Have Magnaflow on the 4.7.

Very smooth tight sound, At cruising speed not much louder than stock. 2500 RPMS and up you can drown out most Ricers.

I say neither. Gibson exhausts have the lowest restriction on the market (5% restriction, Flowmaster has a 14% restriction). I have a spilt rear set-up, and they sound incredible. The power gains were obvious.

Flowmaster 40's dude!! Can be a little droony at times but when you whomp on it IT ROCKS!!!! I've had mine for about 6 mos now and I love it! Actually, I would prefer a little louder at WOT, especially when the carbon builds up in the muffler, it guiets them down a bit. Folks know when you are near by!! Ricers just give up!! and Ford's run for cover!!!! DAK"S RULE!!!!!!

I have flowmaster on my '94 V6 Dakota. I love it, but if I
were to go with anything else it would be a Gibson. I didn't
get the Gibson because of the price. If you can afford it get
the Gibson, otherwise I'd recommend flowmaster.

What sounds better on the 4.7 if I went with a dual exhaust out the rear. I am looking for a loud and deep rumble but not to the point when I can't hear my self think with only light throttle. I like Flowmaster but I heard Magnaflow was good to. I can't find any dual rear exit kits for my truck. All are the single side. I have a '03 Reg cab short bed with the 4.7 and an Auto 5spd trans. Any help would be great. Thanks Everyone!!

I put a Magnaflow SS 2.5 inch singlein/single out ($120 installed) on my 5.2L. Got a noticeable improvement in response throughout the power band. Sound is mellow in low RPMs but moves to a definite growl when I get on it (above 2500). The V8 engine seems to like the straight flow through style of Magnaflow. If you want lots of sound, Flowmaster will resonate more than Magnaflow.
