This may seem like common sense to people but I don't really know anything about body work. Is it possible to have a split cat-back with a roll-pan? I know there is a Cuda style but I am talking about regular tips. I saw a roll pan with exhaust holes in it but I can't find it anywhere. If I did get a roll pan like the street scene fiberglass one, could I keep the split duals on?

I have a roll pan on my 99, I first bought a fibreglass and ended up sending it back and bought a steel one. On the Dakota's when you open the tailgate, the lower lip of the tail gate swings in, coming within 5/16" to 3/8" of the rear bed support. The fibreglass one would not leave any room for fasteners. I bought a Sir Michals pan and had a friend in the body business prep and paint it, he was impressed with the quality and the gauge of metal used. One note though the pans do not come finished welded, I also had him add end plates so I could also fasten it through the ends as well as across the top. Across the top I used button head fasteners, in place they leave 1/8" for clearance with the tailgate. There is a notch in the top lip for the spare crank rod, I had that filled also and removed my spare tire and the retaining assembly. I carry a can of fix-a-flat and a cell phone but have never needed. As far as the exhaust, I dont think the pan is any lower than the bumper was but if there was interferance you could add cutouts on the pan for clearance or maybe lower the exhaust a little. Because of the distance the bumper sticks out compared to the pan your exhaust may have to be modified for length.(made shorter) just my experiance!

Hey matt, who cut the holes for your exhaust and what size are they? Also what kind of roll pan is it?

Slates, would a body shop do the work for the exhaust holes? I would hate myself if I messed it up.

Shinnysideup, so you are saying that you can't lower the tailgate unless you get the steel roll pan? How much heavier is the steel roll pan?

You can buy a rollpan with the round holes.

It is the Street Scene Hollie Rollie pan.

Hey R/T 02, a body shop might cut the holes for ya but will charge you also, (more than i think its worth, ha) using a pilot i cut the holes no problem. granted its a plastic roll pan (thats why it was easy) but i think it looks real good.

I really like the roll pan but I can't find any information on how big the holes are. Does anyone know the size of the holes?

Most of the pre-cut roll pans I have seen have 3 1/2in. holes cut. That gives a 1/4in. around the 3in. pipe for a little movement and so the heat from the tips does not melt the plastic (in my case anyhow)

In my case yes, that was why I returned it and looked elseware for a steel pan. The flange may have been ground down to fit but I didn't like the idea of the thinness the fibreglass would have been at the attaching point. The Plastic (likely urathane) would be similar to your front lower valence.

R/T 02,

I had my exhaust holes cut for free. I was planning on buying the Street Scene rollpan with the holes already cut but I've only heard of one guys rollpan actually changing colors and melting in one spot from the exhaust.

But after I got it repainted after a wreck, my body shop cut 4" holes in it for free and i had the exhaust done shortly after
