Hi guys, I have a 93 5.2 4x4 cc, and a 2000 durango 5.9. What do I need to make this work as far a flywheels, torque converters, computer, and wiring harness. Also, does anyone know some where that rebuilds or sells 93 5.2 computers?
TIA

so you wanna put a 5.9 in place of your 5.2....okay no troubles all you should need is the 5.9 motor mounts and the 5.9 computer just trade the parts over they should all bolt up
now computer..... ummm why 5.2 mabey im totally missing your point..... but im cheap im gonna try to cram a 5.2 in my currently 3.9 powered 4x4 1990 dakota using mostly used wreking yard parts and you should be ablr to find a 5.2 or any computer for that matter at a salvage yard approx 150 bucks

Make sure the 5.9 out of the Durango has the balancer and the flexplate. You can use your existing torque converter. You don't need the Durango motor mounts or anything else. All of your 5.2 stuff will bolt up/bolt on, etc. The same with the wiring harness.

Since your '93 has EGR and the Durango doesn't, you'll need to swap the intake manifold off of your '93 onto the new motor. You might find that the connector from the wiring harness to the distributor is different on the '00 360 motor from what you have now. No big deal. You can swap the pickpup and wire from your '93 right onto the '00 distributor and it will work just fine.

As for computers, I'd go and get a '93 Ram Mopar performance computer for a 360. You should be able to get one for around $200. Then the thing will really wake up. If I think of anything else, I'll post it.

Ummm, the '93 318 converter will not work with the 2000 flexplate. It should, but it won't. In 1996, Mopar moved the balance weight for 360's to the flexplate. Now, it makes perfect sense to say to use the 360 weighted flexplate with the zero-balance 1993 torque converter, BUT, there will be a bolt mis-match. On 1996 and up vehicles, warranty repair in that area requires replacement of the torque converter and a matching flexplate. (They never make it easy). So, either use a weighted 360 Magnum torque converter from a pre-'1996 unit with your 318 flexplate, your 318 converter with 360 Magnum weight added to it along with your 318 flexplate, or use the 1996 and up 318/360 zero-balance torque converter with the 1996-up weighted flexplate for 360. Now, keep in mind, Mopar phased this into being during the 1996 year. The newer units have 4 evenly spaced bolt points and have a "90 degree" sticker on them.

... or just buy the mopar performance torque converter weight kit. It has all the weights needed to balance and even has a diagram to show you where to put em.

... or you could probably pay a tranny shop $15-25 to balance it for you.

Guess I thought he could infer that when I said:
..."your 318 converter with 360 Magnum weight added to it along with your 318 flexplate"...
