The other day when I was driving my 4.7L QC '03, I glanced down at the odometer and there was a message saying: P doNe About every 5 seconds you could see the milage flash briefly then the P doNe message would reappear. This continued for about 10-minutes until I reached my destination. When I started it back up it was gone.

Thanks! Nice site BTW.

I am no expert but if you turn your key on and off 3 times, it would flash an error code where your mileage is. P doNe (I think) indicates no error. but the fact that it is flashing while you are driving means something isn't right. Normally the error code readout only stays up for a second or two after you turn your keys the third time. Someone here will give you a better answer I am sure.

driving to work this morning looked at odometer and saw p doNe. kind of scared me at first but truck was running fine, no other lights, gauges checked out.(the p doNe did kind of flicker but stayed on) figured when i got to work and shut it off and restarted it would reset and be fine, it did and has been normal since i got home.

talked to mechanic at work, he asked mechanic in our other division, they have 00,01 dakota cc 4X4 3.9s.(not buying any more too many front end problems...really!) he said he saw that code and it meant dash lost communication with pcm and in his case truck wouldnt start.

mechanic said may be glitch that might not happen again but if it does bring it back.

did search and on a 2000 anyways p doNe meant no codes.

do have dealer installed remote starter. also disconected battery about 200 miles ago and put in thermostatic switch. switch taken off spare on pdc and spliced into to green wire coming out fan.

anyone one have this happen or have any advice i would appreciate it.

There was never any reply to my above post but this hasn`t happened since either. One thing that may have caused this is my old bulky key chain. My knee would hit it when going from gas to brake shutting off the ignition momentarily. My truck was stalling at drive thrus and I thankfully figured it out. I had to lighten the key chain so it would flex and not affect ignition. Talk about Murphy`s law.

I figure somehow I triggered the self check function in stop and go traffic without stalling it. Hope this helps.
