Subject: Hooking up an auxilary oil Guage?
IP: Logged

Message:
If anybody can please give me directions on how to install an auxilary oil guage, I would greatly appreciate it. I own a 92 dak LE, with the 318/5.2 liter. I dont really want to spend a lot of cash, so will a Sunpro guage work ok? Thanks for the help, Peace! The only type of guage ive ever installed is a Tachometer.

The Sunpro gauge will work fine, install a tee fitting where your factory sending unit is mounted, reconnect the factory unit on one leg and use the other for the gauge. The best to use would be a mechanical gauge vs. an electrical. I know it will be a little pricey but I prefer to use a -2 braided line and fittings, you wont have to worry about any leaks. (I dont trust the plastic line with compression fittings.)

ok, that sounds pretty easy. Where is the factory sending unit located on the motor. I thought it was in the oil pan.

Sorry, I should have checked back last night. It is located next to the distributor on the passenger side. Threads will be pipe tap.

don't buy sunpro....

At mopar you can get silver autometer guages with the mopar insignia and crysler diamond in the background. They are mint and they are cheaper to buy off mopar than it is to buy white faced autometer gauges.

I have one in my 93, i took out the vent above the o/d switch and installed it there it turned out awesome, but i don't have pics yet.

I paid 60 Canadian for it and a shop wanted 80 for the white faced auto meters
