Well i just got through reading a post about dodge trannys being sh!ty and this is my opinion on this,2001 dakota 4.7 cc with 92,*** miles on it and hotroding it ever sense i got it,and i mean hard driving like street racing and the rev limiter kicking in at least 5 times a week, and being up to speeds so fast when i let off it takes 5 or 6 seconds for it to start reading 120 and then droping,i change the oil every 3 thousand and the tranny fliud has never been changed but needs to because its low i got to do that 2morrow though. With all these miles the tranny is not sliping or is it using any oil at all,its been a good 90 thousand miles and i'm still not afriad of geting in it at 5am and go to work,i've taken good care of her and shes taken good care of me just thought you guys might wanna know about this sh!ty tranny sh!t,and for these dodge motors they have a 250,000 mile possible lifetime, and ford has like 25,000...lol...just had to get that in there.

Very true. Take care of your vehicle, and it will take care of you. Dodge engines are made to stand up to all kinds of abuse and keep going; if you take care of them properly, they will run forever.

I'll roll over 70k miles on mine pretty soon - '01 CC 4.7 auto.

Runs like a champ - never so much as a hiccup from her. Always maintain her too. Hopefully hold up long enough to stuff a new crate motor and tranny in eventually - just dream'n there.....

I must drive alot less than the average driver. I bought my '00 4.7L in Feb '00. 45K and no problems (except those crappy rotors had replaced at 23K). Just had my first transmission and rear diff. fluid change done. Used all mopar fluids. Mechanic said they didn't even look like they needed it but i'm paranoid.

No problems with tranny yet. Still shift like the day it was new.

Nice. My 2002 4.7 just hit 16K miles (two year old truck though). 6K of those are trips to Spokane and Missoula. I rev it hard all the damn time and I change the oil every 3K miles.

Your good news pleases I.

lol...140 is pretty fast i would have hated to blow a tire or 2,i was going 140 because i was racing a late 90's cobra mustang and he was going 140 and i was right beside him...lol...not bad for a dakota against a supercharged car.Its easy when you get up to 98 just turned the key over like your starting the truck and hold it there, all your gauges will drop but your rpm's will work.

I see it this way.. It's all in the guy who put
the tranny together.. Was he on drugs that day.
Was it a Monday or Friday? Lots of reasons a
tranny will keep on running or fail early in life.

like the other fellow said, maintain your vehicle and all that other stuff is irrelevent! all these people that talk about that car was a piece of junk & that car i had was a piece of junk probably bought it from someone that didn't properly take care of it before they had it! IGNORANCE!
