if you have the 4.7 v8, it is probably the power steering pressure switch located near the power steering pump. also, watch out for a MIL with a code indicating an O2 sensor problem. the sensor will leak fluid down the wiring harness to the O2 sensor connector and trip the code when it is not actually a bad O2 sensor.

My 2000 dodge dakota has an error code coming up for both the p/s pressure switch and an o2 sensor. assuming that the p/s fluid leaked on the o2 sensor and i just need a p/s pressure switch, will the sensor go off for both errors if I change the p/s pressure switch or should I just replace both? thank you for your time

If it hasn't shorted out the O2 sensor, you should be good. You'll have to unplug that connector at the O2 sensor and clean that really well. Also, clean that harness good to make sure you get rid of all that fluid.

Daddio is right, it happened to me on my 2000 4.7 liter.

Replace the PS pressure switch, try to clean up the wiring harness/o2 sensor. Remember if you replace an o2 sensor, spray the threads down with some lubricant and only use a 6 point box end wrench to remove so you don't round out the nut.
