Subject: problems with brakes pulsing
IP: Logged

Message:
i have a 2000 4.7 slt+ with 32k miles on it now the question i have is when i am applying the brakes at 40mph or above my truck pulses front to back while slowing down without my steering wheel rocking. i took it to the dealer and he said (without driving it) that my rear drums needed to be resurfaced. i have never heard that before expecially with only 32,000 miles can anyone give me a clue on what it is? or is he right.
thank you in advance

It could also be warped front discs, but this is unlikely. Either way it sounds like you could use a brake job so save up the cash and get all 4 corners done. If you do it yourself it won't cost you much at all, and as long as your not planning on machining the drums or discs (re-surfacing) then it'll REALLY easy. The difference you'll notice by replacing the worn parts will be well worth the time and money.

Don't waste your time with the rear drums. It's not the problem. The rotors are what's wrong. Have them cut and the problem will go away.

I agree with TonyC....and would also like to add that you need to be prepared for this to happen several times in the Dak's life unless you change to a high permance brake rotor.

Good Choice, Slotted high performance rotors and brake pads are the answer. I had changed mine 6 times until Raybestos showed up on mine, no problems since now............. Hail to Raybestos!
