Yeah, tell him to deflate his tires and put hot air back in them. Helps the tires heat up faster when you do your burnout in prestaging which in turn makes them hook up at the line better. I don't think your co-worker will have any problems finding a source of hot air.

I know of an Engineer that washes and waxes his vehicle before any road trip, because he believes that he is helping his cars gas milage by relieving it of the excess drag by removing the unwanted dust and grime. While he is technically correct, it's not a difference one would see, and basically just gives me a stupid example to post on a boring Sunday evening.

It does help you wash off the bugs and road grime after the trip though...

Unless he removes the thermostat the chilled water wouldn't circulate thru the engine until it reached wahtever the thermo is rated at.

Here is a real one related to the wax and milage thing, Back in the early 80's a NASCAR Team, I beleive what is now RCR ran one of their cars at Talladega in a test run, they ran in one "time trial" and ran "so fast" brought it in, gave it a VERY quick wax job that took all of about 10 minutes, sent it back out and got an honest 2+ mph gain. With only 10 minutes gone by there was not much change in the track, temp, humidity etc. It was reported in Popular Mechanics.
