I am test driving an 93 Club Cab 4 x 4 with 5.2
My question is when I tried the 4 x 4 it growled
& grind. When I did get it in it worked but would
also slip out. Is this a big problem or is it
need minor maintenance.
Thank You

As long as your tranny is in drive, and your going between 5kph, and 80kph it should just pop right in. I've had quite a few problems with getting into 4L, even with the tranny in neutral at a full stop it doesn't like to go in, I find rolling forward at about 3kph, and having the tranny in neutral is the only way.

As for it poping out, make sure its all the way in there, sometimes it goes in but not all the way and it pops back out soon.

Live in America = Use American Measurements = MPH

Sounds like the transfer case is messed up to me. It shouldn't slip out and it shouldn't grind or anything. The most reliable way to shift mine is to be coasting with no foot on the gas at about 40MPH, then after you shift it in, tap the gas a few times. Just don't do this going into 4Low. I would definitely cross this off as a potential purchase. Transfer cases are not cheap to work on. I test drove one Durango and when I would shift it from 2H to 4H with the transmission in NUETRAL the whole damn car would jump and teh thing would grind like a bia. CarMax sells guy told me he wasnt sure if that was normal or not. I informed him that it was definitely not normal LOL.
