I have the Gibson Dual Rear Catback exhaust. I like it a lot and I think that it sounds great. It has a nice deep rumble to it. If I can figure out a way to make a sound file, I'd gladly send it to you. You can check out my pics if you wanna see what it looks like on my truck. I'm not real hip on the tips that I have, but they'll have to do for now.

I had the ss dual catback on my 2000 4.7 2wd CC. no need to remove the spare, it sounded awesome (comments from everyone but the neighbors as it could get pretty loud outside).. i loved it and still kick myself in the ass for not taking it off the 2000, cobbling up something for the trade in then changing it on my '03...

it was perfect, loud on the outside, not very loud at all on the inside.. i loved it...
Chris

Thank you and no I didn't have to take the spare tire off. Although, since I have the trailer hitch on there, the exhaust pipe that goes to the driver's side comes very close to the spare tire rear the axle. The hardest part if you plan to do it yourself is removing the old exhaust.

I have the Split Rear Gibson Cat Back. Sounds great, has a nice low rumble at Idle with a mean Bark at full throttle. I had to remove my spare time only because I ordered the bigger wheels from the factory, and although it the pipes didn't touch the tire I was a little worried about the heat, because those pipes do wiggle a little. I bought a slightly smaller tire, on the Same rim though, and it works just as well. You can adjust the pipes during the install so that you wont have to remove the spare. I just wanted the pipes closer together at the back end which is why I had to swap tires. If your planning on doing this yourself, makesure you have at least 3 hours or more to do this. Because you may only have to spend 90 minutes or so installing, but your definately going to want to tweek it at the end. It was worth the trouble!

Where do you plan to buy it from? I got a great deal on mine from www.performancecenter.com back in January ... got the stainless set on clearance for like $20 more than the aluminum. Don't know how often they ran that kinda deal, but you might what to take a look. Also, some guys noticed a loss in the low-end after the instal, but I'm guessing that they didn't change or hadn't changed the air intake. Simple math ... more air in = more air out. So that would be my suggestion if you haven't already done so. I actually had my air intake on before the exhaust and I didn't notice any low-end loss. What motor and body style do you have?

I've had mine on since 98. The max. size spare tire for the dual rear exit is 235/75x15 or equivalent. Great sound and not harsh in the cab. HTH.

I still have the 31x10.5x15 spare and it fit around it. Once again, it was tight near the rear axle, but had plenty of room on each side.

I'm curious to know what you paid. I think I paid like $325 with free shipping if I remember correctly, but it was like 6 months ago.

Oh you got a slightly better deal than me... I think I paid $350 give or take a couple bucks. Oh BTW I could have sworn that Gibsons says you get a set of exhaust tips with that system. I didn't get any tips, I had to order mine at $40 a pop for Chromes. My single swept side system on my old 97 V6 dak came with a tip.

Did Summit have a special when you bought it? I think that system normally sells for over $400. I didn't get tips with mine either, but the website that I bought it from clearly stated it they didn't come with, so I expected to have to buy them. I went with some cheap stainless tips from Autozone and really wish now that I would've gotten different ones. I still might end up changing these out, because they are just too short and stubby.
