"Bro", why don't you take your stupidity back to the off topic forum - instead of following me around with your nonsense. I've never claimed the '00 dakotas had a 4.10 option, so the above post is pointless. I've never seen any of us here who are running custom gears make the claim that they were an option...

Thanks for the feedback.
I made a call to a shop today and inquired about 4.10 gears. I was told that Dodges are more sensitive to the gearing changes and it can cause trannys to hunt around for the correct gear. He said if I could get the computer flashed for the new gearing, I'd be happier.
Has anyone experienced this with their gear changes?
I know that 3.92 gearing is a Dodge option. I'm wanting to go steeper to guarantee pulling power. If the flash can only adjust shift points based on the 3.92, I'm wondering if this will cover a 4.10?

Ignore "Bro", he's just one of the fools hassling me because I won't be silenced by their juvenile tactics. While I do have a custom performance flash, it wasn't for the gearing. I had 3.55 gears when I got it. I've never heard of anyone with a 4 speed 45RFE like you have complain about hunting with any gear combination. It seems to be only those with the similar 5 speed 545RFE that complain about hunting, even with stock gears. Are you working woth a Dodge dealership ? If you are, I'd suggest choosing a shop that has a good reputation for gear work instead. No hunting problems with mine at all.

Throttle spacer for a 4.7
IP: Logged

Message:
I need a little advise please. I am thinking about
putting an Airaid spacer plate on my 01 Dakota. Is
it worth it or not.
I also want to add a K&N cold air intake but I was
told that if I did I should also add a performance
mass air sensor. Could any of you guys or gals
tell me if any of these parts are going to help or
not?
I am also going to add a cat back dual exhaust.
Any and all input will be greatly appreciated.
Thanks,
HOSS

I have a 2003 dodge Dakota quad cab, 4.7 5 speed standard
transmission with 3.55 gears. A guy at the trailer dealership
told me that because my truck is a standard my towing
capacity is lower. It doesn't make any sense to me any
ideas? And I've been reading up on how to tow a fifth wheel
with a QC Dakota. But still don't know where to get the
adapter to put the trailer back far enough to where the hitch
isn't under the bunk it's infront.

My 2000 Dakota Sport 4x4,tows nicely with a atv in
the bed and towing a 16' trailer with another atv
and lots of hunting equip.,in the Mountains of
Wv,probably 5000# of weight.Trk. has V8 4.7,mild
chip,flow master dual exhausts,K-N Cold Air,5-
speed Manual,has lots of power,but i wouldn't hook
my fifth wheel to it,I use my larger truck a GMC
4x4 Sierra for that job.My fifth-wheel is
apx.9500#.,the Dodge has 3.55 rears,it would have
the power to tow fifth-wheel but too high rear
ratio for towing that weight.
