Subject: 4.7 vs. 5.2

I am thinkning about getting a CC 4x4 Dakota. Would it be worth getting an older Dakota (99-98) with low miles so I can get the 5.2, or getting a newer (00-02) with the 4.7? I have heard lots of stories about how the 5.2 will out pull and out drive a 4.7. Anyone had both? I currently have a 93 2wd sport with the 3.9 and am looking to upgrade. Thanks...

The 4.7 HEMI is smaller, but stock has about five more horsepower than a 5.2L. So you get slightly better gas mileage with a 4.7 and a few extra horses. I myself have no experience up close with a HEMI, but I love my 5.2L, and if Chrysler did as good a job on the 4.7 as the 5.2, I'd be very pleased with it.

The 4.7 is a more modern engine. No distributor, or plug wires to mess with, overhead cams, to name a few improvements. It burns much cleaner, and gets better economy, and is slightly more powerful than the 5.2, if not equal in output. The smaller 4.7 getting better economy with equal output is a testament in itself.
I love mine.
