My wife drives a 99 Dakota 4x4, 5.2 V-8, 5speed, NP231 tcase. It's got the Rancho 3" lift. 3" susupension spacers in front, 2" lift blocks in back, sitting on 32" BFG AT's.

This truck has managed to break 3 rear covers on the tcase. They crack around the rear output shaft housing.

Anyone else encountered this problem? I'm a Jeep guy, and allergic to lift blocks. I suspect axle wrap is causing this. Stumbled across this board doing a 45RFE Google search, so figured I'd ask.

Angle from the lift could be causing increased stress on Tcase. I haven't looked but surely you can install a thicker mount for it and decrease the angle.
