Subject: Want to rebuild the rear end!

Id like to have my Rear end rebuilt. I know for a fact that my Ring and Pinion is ok, but my spider gears are shot. What am i going to have to purchase to completley rebuild the rear end. Also, on average how much does a set of spider gears cost?

replacing spiders are easy, just drop out the cross shaft and pull the axles and their they are.

they arn't to expensive either, not to a full carrier anyway.

If you have never rebuilt a rearend then I'd find a friend that has the tools (bearing puller, press, dial indicator...)

Replacing the bearings is easy, its just if they are alittle bit different than the ones that were in it, then your have to setup the gears all over again, and thats a PITA!!!

just call up a place like randys ring and pinnion and ask for a full rebuild kit for your axle. Comes with all new shims, bearings races, seals, Pinnion nut, oil slinger, and gear marking compound. Spiders will be seperate. Ask them for the tools to do the job too, they have them, its just 1 they are expensive, and 2 you have to know how to use them.

Good luck, email me if you have any questions.
