Thanks so much!!! I think you just saved me $2,300. My 2000 Dodge Dakota 4.7 liter was exhibiting the same symptoms I took it to the dealer and they told me that the power steering pressure switch had leaked oil and I needed a new wiring harness. I found it hard to believe that I needed to replace the entire wiring harness. I think I’ll follow your advice and replace the PS switch and O2 sensor. Thanks for sharing that info.

replace the harness, forget that. Replace the o2 sensor and ps switch, use some electrical contact cleaner on the wires/harness, you should be good to go.

PS- you can buy me a cold beer though!

an O2 sensor won't cost you 100+ bucks. buy it from www.ngk.com.

if your plugs look OK and mileage has not taken a sudden dive why bother changing it? i know someone will probably disagree with me. my truck has 87k and i still have the original O2 sensor and still get great mileage.

Which Bosch?? O2 sensors
IP: Logged

Message:
Hey folks. Dad has a 2000 with the 4.7L we live on the east coats yet we discovered he's got a California engine...4 Sensors!
No auto parts stores have a listing for the correct california sensor. They listed Bosch 13272 for before Cat and 13280 for after. we bought a pair of them. Well, the connectors are different for the fronts so these are not the correct Sensors. Can anyone give me the correct Bosch numbers for this vehicle? With the correct numbers, I can have the Auto place order those numbers for me.

Thanks

P.S. The Snap On tool # SWR1 is the best tool for this vehicle I had a fist full of Sensor sockets and gadgets to try.

Don't know the part # you are looking for, but finding a Cali spec motor on the east coast isn't as unusual as you seem to think. Many states have adopted those tighter emissions levels; it's just referred to as Cali as they were the first. For example, my '00 MA truck is that spec as well.

Lead, follow, or get out of the way

Called Bosch and got the skinny on what happened.
It appears that Dodge stole some harnesses from the Durango Production line to put in the Dakotas.

Soooo, If you need to buy the Upstream sensor you need to buy for the 2000 Durango Bosch # 13132.
Unplug the Upstream sensor and look at the connector. If you see 2 bumps (keying device)one bump at a 12:00 position and the other at teh 9:00 position. then you need to buy this Durango Sensor.

The downstream one is the same 13280.

Or buy the NGK ones, they have the right number listed

Whew!

Just unhook the positive battery terminal for like 15 minutes.

Rather than unhook the battery, you can just drive it and after so-many start cycles/miles the codes will be erased.

Unhooking the battery will reset the codes, yes, but it also puts the whole system into not-ready default mode. Which then takes so-many start cycles/miles to reset.

We have a 2003 Dodge Dakota with 3.9. We were getting code p0174 which means runnig rich. Done everything so finally we change fuel pump. Now after driving 30 miles we are getting codes p0152 and p0175. It runs fine at times and then all the sudden it will bogg down sorta like backfire and take off running fine. It may not even do this everytime you drive it. Any suggestions
