You could get the H.O. cams, a pcm flash instead of a chip (Kenne Bell or Mike Leach), an aftermarket catback, a true cold air intake, and maybe a larger throttle body. Some people remove their clutch driven engine fan and just rely on the electric one. That frees up a few hp and it's free. Maybe switch to 3.92 gears if you don't already have them. Or you could do nitrous or a s/c. It just depends on how much you want to spend. You can do a topic search on any of these things here. There's lots of info on all of them. Just make sure you research everything thoroughly before you decide. Have fun.

The HO Cams and HO Intake along with the Kenne Bell Optimizer II flash will give you those gains. Then go for a larger TB, better flowing exhaust, and a warm/cold air intake.

Hello Demon Dakota. Do you have experience with the Kenne Bell Optimizer II?? Can you recommend it?? I'm considering buying it but it's always good to get input first.

Dunner has run a turbo set up and running pretty sweet times. I think the Optimizer II would be a good option. I have one but it came with a supercharger so i don't know what it would do for you. BTW, i see a lot of guys with the TPS higher tahn stock...... waht exactly does that do??? I know mine is at .44v????

It's supposed to improve off-idle throttle response.

KB Optimizer II is a very good aftermarket flash for either the N/A or boosted 4.7L. And adjusting the TPS is a good way to get your throttle response up to where it should be. Don't go over .8 VDC...

There are a couple of guys running turboed 4.7L's, including a twin turbo setup (but he has not taken it to the race track). If I ever decide between the turbo or S/C...well, then I'd be another one.

j,
How are the heater core tubes rerouted when the KenneBell s/c is installed? Are the hard lines that run across the intake manifold replaced with flexable heater hose??

Also, did you do the install yourself? if so, how difficult was it and how long did it take???

They use the same hoses but they reinstall them backwards or something and they now run along the valve cover on the passenger side of the engine. At the time I got the s/c I only had street parking and didn't want to do the install on the street. It doesn't look too difficult. They used to have the installation instructions available at jeepsunlimited.com but I don't know if they are there anymore. I believe it is supposed to be about a 9 or 10 hr job. It seems to me that the hardest part of the install would be the knock detector system and electrical things.

Another power adder choice is to go with 4.11 or 4.56 gearing with 218 cams and high compression postons (11).

That's what I've finally decided on anyway. I havn't seen anyone else run them, but maybe they just don't post here.

the turbo set-up is not hard just a LOT of fabrication, mines been on for months with little or no trouble i.e. fuel line leak, bald tires, right foot falls asleep at full throttle, grill cleaning (little kids, animals ect). but other than that nothing out of the norm.

Azdak, that's awesome. Heard you had some FMU issues early on in the process... Did everything turnout all right?

How's that full-lock rear end doing?

ya i got the fmu straightened out it had debris in it after i cleaned it i found out once you break the seal you have to replace the diaphram. so i called a guy who "appriently" works on these all the time and has rebuild kits after a week of hunting done this so called expert he says he misplaced them (what a flake.) so i see the bull$hit flag rising called the manufacturer they said they dont sell the kits, only they can rebuild them flow testing is the problem. send it in they would rebuild it 75 labor 45 kit 1 week turn-time of course i said blow me measured the diaphram thickness .0004 thick stainless shim stock 1.240 dia made my own took it to my partners garage who rebuilds and flow tests fuel injectors, tested it little tricky had to pump the service tech at vortek on exactally how to do it but it seems to work fine now i e-mailed duner about a new deal i think im going to tig weld a fitting to the back of the pass. side fuel rail. the go to fmu then to a pressure regulator then back to the tank the set-up now just recirculates unused fuel back to the high pressure pump this makes the fuel really hot plus it starves the left rear bank of cylinder under heavy acceleration the new set-up will give "new" gas all the time and flood the rail equally well see how it works. please keep fingers crossed. oh by the way the rearend work great little hard around corners but it will hook up in a straight line.

That's good to know about the FMU stuff. I am still not sure whether I like the idea of running one or not. I am also looking at the Supercharger set-up from Paxton. But it's expensive as hell.

Anyhow, that return-style fuel system seems to be the answer for getting the fuel cool and flooding the rails (as you said). I don't know how they are setting it up to not throw a code on the PCM. Apparently when you leave the gas cap off, the PCM throws a code. So, I am worried about "breaching" the fuel system for the return to the tank. I dunno.

I'll call you soon to talk about turbo's.
