Subject: Serious Problem with the 42RE tranny?
IP: Logged

Message:
I need some serious help with this problem ASAP. I have a 2002 Quad Cab with the 4.7 V8 and the 42RE tranny. Ever since I have owned the truck (just over a year now) I have had a major problem with the transmission shifting out of gear. With no warning at all, the truck will sometimes shift to either second gear or into neutral on the display. When it goes to second, the engine revs up very loud and the RPMs jump to 5-6,000. When it goes into neutral, the truck loses all power (this lead to a three car accident a couple of months ago). Anyway, the vehicle had been to the dealer numerous times over this issue, but they can't seem to find anything and the have yet to be able to duplicate this occurrance. Due to this, I am going to arbitration over this issue with Diamler-Chrysler on the 25th of this month. My dealer is standing behind me in this matter, but Chyrsler is getting very nasty over the issue. What I need to know is if anyone else knows of this issue and can provide me more information on it. Thanks!

I think I see your problem !!

Somebody in the factory installed a V6 tranny in your 4.7 Dak

You should have a 45RFE

Tell your dealer you insist that they change it ASAP

Sorry for the incorrect info. I do have the 45RFE tranny in my truck. Still recovering from the flu and my mind isn't working as well. I could still use any info on this problem ASAP. Thanks again.
