I was thinking of getting a lund hood scoop (twin) for my 03 dakota, but I haven't seen too many pictures of ones out there. If anyone has any good pics or better brand names I'd like to hear your input.

I had them on the truck for over a year..Never peeled up, and the paint didn't chip.

I just took them off of the truck recently, and removed all badging/stickers to return back to a clean stock look. I would send them to you but the tape was so good on them, I cracked both of them getting them off.

Here's a pic.

Those are the LUND hood scoops.

If you get these, make sure to tell them they are for a smaller truck. They make them for the full-size, and smaller trucks.

I prepped them, primed, and basecoat/clearcoated them.. Not too bad for under a $100 bucks, considering the alternative. $500 hood + $275 for somebody to paint.

I have a paint & body shop in the family, so the paint work did not cost me... Any local body shop will paint these for you, and shouldn't charge much more than a $100, maybe less? Make sure they prep and prime them, or you will have problems with them peeling. Make sure you have them where you want them when you take the strips off, because once they're on, THEY ARE ON.

Well I agree with one point from Pete. Sometimes these "FAKE" scoops look kind of Ricey LOL!!!

But seriously now, I wouldn't mind finding a SINGLE scoop that I could make look GOOD on my new hood and make a REAL intake out of it.

Sorry dude, but when you put TWO scoops, it's pretty obvious that it is most likely not connected to jack sh!t!

Remember, Rice is the extreme of all show and no go!

At least you PAINTED your scoops instead of leaving them black, etc. Ricers leave the crap mis matched just to make sure people KNOW they modified their car/truck.

Do you have a web site for a place to get nice scoops? I'd like it to be a permanent installation with a single element air filter right off the throttle body that could then fit up inside the FUNCTIONAL scoop when the hood closes. I have all the tools incuding the paint gun, etc. I've done this with great results on my Stang, but this will be going on my 2003 4X4 4.7, I want it to be perfect!

Where would I relocate my boost gauge to, if I put a fire extinguisher on the pillar?

I did what I did, because I wanted to, just like you wanting to add a scoop to your 4x4.
"Remember, Rice is the extreme of all show and no go!" HA... I think I have the "go" pretty much covered.

lets define style in common laymans terms shall we? who is the deciding factor on what is "stylish" and what is not?... youre going to say the individual, correct? Wrong... The individual is biased based on what others think. Therefore society determines what is stylish and what is not. Pete doesnt. Society, aka = "everyone".. knows those fake lund stick on scoops are just that... fake, and a cheap attempt at looking "stylish" without spending the big bucks. When this is recognized, its dismissed as "rice".. because the modification does absolutely nothing, where the purpose of the modification is to look "stylish" by fooling people into thinking you have something you dont. Meanwhile, you are obviously ignorant to people easily recignizing your bluff, pointing, and laughing that youre just too cheap to do it right. I'm sorry you didnt realize my point the first time. If you need me to go more in depth next time.. Just ask, and I'll be able to accomodate you.

I put a Lund Eclipse scoop on my Dak

Cut the two holes in the front open

Cut a 10 X 12 hole in the hood under the scoop

And am blowing it down a 14 X 3 K&N Xstream top

I taped a radio shack thermometer sensor to the
bottom of the air cleaner just to see if it was
working.

At idle standing still 130 degree's
At 40mph dropped to 110 degree's
At 60 it dropped to 90 degree's
at 70 it was reading outside air temp.

It is very noticeable over 60mph getting all that
nice cold air ramed down my 48mm F&B

As for style many people ask me if it is an old
six pack air scoop.

to many mods to list

Petey Boy... Your intellect seems to fall into a category of eh...a pompass prick.

Do you always do things that you are worried about what others will think? That insecure?

Who says we're trying to bluff anyone? We know they are scoops.

Next time I'm to "impress" someone, I'll take your advice.

I wish I had left the scoops on now.

ya, i am a rather pompous prick.... my only point is that everyone knows theyre gay... and when you see a truck, do a double take on it and see that theyre the fake cheapo scoops, it only detracts from the asthetics.

now the guy that made his sticker functional... thats cool, its what modding is about. i personally wouldnt do it, but more power to the dude that went a step beyond and made it work.

notchlx, I'm sure having the "GO" covered is great. I wish I had boost, believe me!!!
I just don't understand installing TAPED ON type of (fake) SCOOPS without making them REAL scoops???????

Why not install a REAL scoop?

As for J and J Auto, he didn't even seal his filter up inside the scoop, but look at the difference he got, seeing that he actually used a thermometer to prove it! Just think how great they work when you can get a small filter to fit up into a scoop to keep most of the warm engine area heat out as completely as possible! I noticed a nice difference on my Mustang. J and J's was an older 5.2 it looks, but as I see it, I may be able to do similar to my 4.7. Even tho it is a 4X4, it makes a NOTICABLE difference when driving up the mountains, which I do A LOT! Not to mention it's nice having a 4X4 that can get up and go in regular city traffic as well :-)
