I have an 01 RT club cab and am happy with it...but as of lately...it doesn't seem to like me back. It ahs 39,000 miles on it is all. I just got done putting $3000 in mods in it and don't have another dime at this time. About 3 weeks ago...i was have a problem with it shifting outta 2nd. It would shift outta 1st...but wouldn't shift outta 2nd uinles i would goose it and then it would go. Also from time to time...when i would go to stop, it wouldn't shift back down to first...meaning i would start off in second. I was told by a could of trans techs that it sounded like the govenor pressure silinoid. So i spent $100 on the new one and went to work. When i pulled it out i noticed there was a lot of metal shavings around the screen...seeming like it was clogged. I put the new one in and down the road i went. One week it was fine...like new. Today...same problem came back. I took the govenor out...and again...metal shavings. Only means one thing...rebuild time. I was wondering who knows of a good high performance rebuild kit...please let me know. Sorry so long.
Matt

Having gone through my share of dodge tranny troubles I can add a few things- Use an upgraded 4 pinion planetary & sprag in the o/d unit, and replace the tranny cooler lines. At least on my '96, one line contains a checkball that can plug up and stop the flow on a rebuilt tranny due to metal shavings from the original build hung up in the checkball seat. Flushing the lines won't get it all out. Also, in units with serious metal contamination, its usually necessary to clean or replace the shift solenoids, GP solenoid, and GP sensor due to metal contamination.

good luck

the redeagle cast band and clutches are some of the best available... I belive the complete rebuild kit is around $350.00 you definately want to go with the 4 or 5 pinion planetary gears. when you pulled the pan did you clean all the crap off of the magnet and the pan?

if you scroll down they list all their prices... I have looked around and the price is about the same everywhere. I have heard aps is a really good shop from a lot of people... I think Wayne is the main tech guy... give him a call and see what he has to say.

I had a local shop rebuild it, so I'm sure they used regular rebuilder quality parts. They didn't know about the checkball, so three builds burnt to the ground quicklike before I took it to the dealer and got the lowdown on the cooler lines, planets & metal contamination. The tranny shop used a Dacco converter, which is crap. I also twisted one of those to pieces. When I blow this tranny again I'm gonna be needing a completely new unit. Where can I get performance built A518/46RE trannies?

good luck
