 Subject: Magnum V6 to 5.9 RT Swap?

I have a 1993 dodge dakota sport with the magnum v6 in it and i'm interested in swapping to a dakota 5.9RT V8.....i know i'm going to need a new transmission also..but does anyone know what else im going to need and if it will be worth it in the end?? Thanks

I am in the middle of doing that exact swap on a 1992 Dakota. I had my manual transmission rebuilt by a well-known and very reputable person. You really don't need anything depending on what you have equipped. You may want a bigger radiator and an electric fan to give you better cooling and more room up front. Also, you may want to look into getting a locking differential if you don't have one. It is a basic swap assuming the engine is complete. Email me at Addihs214@aol.com if you have any questions.

I would like to do the same swap I have a 99dak v6mag. Where and for how much can you find a 5.9 engine?
In order to do something like this.. What kind of $$$ are you looking at probably spending by the time the project is completed?

mikey.. unless youve already got serious mods in your v6... id sell/trade for an r/t. there are lots for very reasonable prices.. just gotta look around. the guys at the delphi forum usually have one up for sale, so does e-bay. id offer you mine, but no one would ever pay what i owe on it lol

I've seen plenty of RT's on ebay going for around 9 or 10...depending on your price range thats as low as i've seen them

id need to get 15k for my truck to break totally even.
its a 99 red ccab r/t 63k miles, new brakes, new rotors, new nitto 275/50/17 tires, new 3" spintech catback, gutted cat, o2 simm, durango chrome r/t emblems, 2/3 drop (hangers/arms), msd 6al, msd wires, polished aluminum valve covers, edelbrock pro-flo air cleaner, ait adjuster, clear corner lenses dynomax headers sitting in the closet, 3 minor cigarette burns, 2 minor door dings, i think thats about it. like i said, i dount highly i can get what i need for it. i am a realist. but heres a picture:

she ran 14.6@92mph last year. dont know what she'll do now. its pretty much a different truck (aftermarket parts wise) now than she was then
