Ok I got a steal on a 1991 Dakota, ( I didnt really research out the deal my bad) anyways heres a list of problems I currently have, and was woundering if anyone can shed some light on them, I prefer to do my own work, (manly thing I guess :)

1. Odometer and Speedometer dont work, my speedo just spins in circles

2. taking off the truck is sluggish and lacks power. For the hell of it, I tried a break stand to see how it that went (no Im not a show boater :) anyways took it up and pulled my foot of the brake, I got nothing for a good 2-3sec before it kicked in and moved.

3. Power steering, not sure if its the pump or not but when Im traveling slow (parking lots and such) it feels like the truck has no power steering , as speed gets over 10mph then it seems to be engaged.

4. Fuel economy seems horrible :) (not overly concerned with it atm) but is there some recomendations to make it better out there

Thats about all I can think off at the momemt, I appericate all advice in advance and thank you

It is a 1991 Dodge Dakota Ext Cab (se model) with 5.2 V8

1 and 2 sound like a crapped out tranny.

3...did you check the power steering fluid level?
if its low add Lucas power steering additive and atf or pS fluid to top off.

4...do all the usuals...tune up, CAI, free flowing exaust.

You could have clogged injectors, that will make your TBI Dak feel real sluggish. Dont forget to replace your fuel filter.

Good luck
