Has anyone used the Hughes Modified Beer Barrel intake or heard a comparison to the M1 I am trying to decide on what to buy. I have a stock 5.9 with gibson headers and 3" flowmaster, and am getting a fastman throttle body?

I known someone who had the Hughes and I had the M1. M1 is overall a better intake. You may lose a little low-end with the M1, but you more than make up for it in the mid-upper range. One really nice benefit to the M1 is doing away with the belly pan gasket. The Hughes still uses this.

Hey thanks Troy, what about the turtle that you can buy with it, does that help the low end at all and how much is it?

I have never seen anyone selling the intake with the turtle. I had the large and extra large version. I removed the large and installed the extra large once they became available. The turtle makes a significant improvement in low-end torque. It restores some of the torque that you lost with the M1. There was a night and day difference for me from the step up to the extra large. The step from nothing to large was good, but the extra large was great. I was very pleased after the extra large install. Anyhow, Jeff Arnold was selling these, but sold the machine he was making them with. Look him up and see if he may have some left or know where you can get one. Do a search for his name and you should be able to find his address. You may even find some old posts made by me about the improvements after the install. I think is address was flameredrt@hotmail.com, but I wouldn't swear on it. Hope that helps.

i accquired the machine (its a basic die grinder with a blaster ricoh stand) anyways, since there is such a high demand, i make the normal turtle for 365.00 and the extra large for 385.00

Wow, talk about supply and demand, they were going for 50.00 back in december. I guess I don't need one that bad, and will take the little bit I lose in the low end torque.

Salarguy on dodgetrucks.org sells the turtles, as well as a stainless install kit for the m-1.
