Whats up-

I happened to find myself in a Durango for the first time the other day and I noticed that it was riding a lot softer than my Dakota. I was just wondering if there was a difference between the two truck's suspensions, or was the Durango riding softer because it had more weight in the back (more people)?

You will notice that the Dakota, or any pickup for that matter, will ride smoother with 200-300 pounds in the bed. That's not to say that you should carry extra weight, because it does hurt your gas mileage, but it does ride better. One alternative is a fiberglass bed cover or a topper shell, which add weight but actually help the aerodynamics; either a mpg trade-off or improvement.

I have a Snugtop cab-hi shell that weighs 160 pounds. The truck is extremely pleasant on the highway between 70-80 mph.

the durango does weight 1000lbs more so if the dakota and the durango have the same springs and shocks the durango would be smoother
