Subject: Water injection on blower app.

Everyone always talks about detonation from the kennebell but has anyone ever thought about water injection to cool the intake charge. This isnt a new technology and is being used in a variety of application, mostly racing. I have alot of rx7 friends that use it to take up any inefficiencys caused by their restictive intercoolers.

I use it. Stopped my pinging. Still have some fine tuning to do.

I've heard of several different "injection" add-ons, but I'm curious as to how they work?

Any information would be appreciated.

Mine injects water just upstream of the throttle butterfly. I drilled and threaded a hole in the TB with a tap that was supplied in my kit (Aquamist 1s). Three jets were supplied in the kit (.5 .6 and .7mm) and I screwed the jet into the hole I tapped. I use the windshield washer resevoir for my water supply. You just put a pump in, and a manifold pressure switch, and water will be injected at the boost level you want (the pressure switch is adjustable).

Question,

The water that is injected (a mist) absorbs some of the heat in the intake charge as it evaporates. This allows you to run more timing or boost for a given octane. It works the same way as any mist(i.e. waves on a boat ride or from a hose) blown on you on a hot summer day. When it hits your skid it make the air feel alot cooler (poor-man's AC).
