I agree with gotanRT, anything under 180 is too cold.

Thats a good reason for it to be too cold. Actualy the computer doesn't like it. The computer is like a wife, you want something to make you happy and she says no. I got one in mine and it works fine. You just have to lie to the computer. You can figure it out if you try hard enough.Hint: not all spots in the cooling system are the same temp.

Do NOT put a 160tstat in your truck. It is too cold and you will bog really badly in 3rd gear. Most people think they are working fine with it, once including me. I changed back to the 180 when i took my scer off and noticed a HUGE difference.

My "scer" was a supercharger. It was a vortech strim. Took it off to help pay for my tranny which got obliterated. Got a full race tranny, custom stall, efan and nitrous for what I sold it for. Without a bottle heater, purge, and rims that were way to small for my slicks I knocked off 3 tenths in the 1/8th. That was with the 160 tstat still on. Changed it out and it is definitly going to give me the little kick I need to scratch a few 12s.

You need a "scer" to get in the 12s in the 1/8th? You should be in the 12s in the 1/4 without a "scer" or nitrous.

Your engine was designed to run at 180 deg or more. If you switch it to 160 you will get major amounts of carbon builup over time. Colder is better to a point, but the reason your engine has a thermostat is that it must maintain a minimum temp. If coldest was best, everyone would just remover them.

DUDE- I had no problems with you at first, but now I must say that you are an idiot.
I let the rediculous remark about the thermostat go. But now I am aware that you are just ignorant.
You then seem to mock my abbreviation of supercharger which has been used by many others on this board.
Then you cant even realize I was talking 1/4 mile times. If you even have a dakota/durango which I kinda doubt now, post some pics and time slips.
Getting a NA dakota into the 12s is NOT easy without alot of money and no emissions testing.

Please prove me wrong..As of now you are an idiot in my mind.
