Subject: GASKET PART #'S

Message:
I need to do the Belly Pan gasket on my 99 5.2L and I'm not sure what brand of gasket to go with and what gaskets I will need to do the entire job? Can anyone tell me what the Mopar or Napa #'s are. Any tricks will help me also because I've never changed this before. Do I need the rtv sealer or the spray sealer and do I need the reinforcement plate or does this not matter. Thanks for the reply

NAPA p/n MS16292 Listed for a '99 Dakota. Abot $40 including the belly pan gasket, front and rear end seals(rubber like the Mopars)and side gaskets. Also a good time to swap t-stats. You WILL need some good high temp RTV. I recomend the Permatex "The Right Stuf" selaant. It's black and ina pressureixed can. Sets up in 5 minutes, and you can drive the truck by the time you finish getting everything back together. No need to wait overnight, or hours.

Thanks for the great info HSKR. I was looking at the 1/4" aluminum reinforcement plate that Hughes Performance sells. Looks like a good idea to get one of these too. What do you think? this comes with gaskets also but I'd rather use the Napa ones instead. Do you think this extra piece is necessary?

Personally, I prefer the Felpro gaskets over the Mopar or Napa ones. The Felpro's have cork end seals. I've never been a big fan of the rubber end seals, but of course all my experience is with the M1 intake manifold, and not the stocker. I bought an upper engine rebuild gasket kit from Autozone. It was a Felpro kit and came with every gasket you coudl think up to replace everything fom the heads up. Even valve guide seals, both TB gaskets, and injector o-rings. Cost $64 and had the cork end seals, and properly slotted side gaskets for the intake manifold unlike the more popular Felpro gaskets. Not sure of the part number off hnad. Don't have the box here with me.
