Hi guys! I have a 93 cc 4x4 5.2L, and it has just shy of 275,000 miles on it (original motor no less). Anyhow, I just got a 2000 durango 5.9 motor engine wiring harness and computer with 33,000 miles. What is going to be the best way to make this happen? Obviously the wiring harnesses are very different (I have the single 60 pin obd-I harness, the durango came with the 3 plug obd-II harness). should I just switch all the sensors off of the 5.2 and use the original harness? can I splice in the new harness (fairly easily?) What about the computer? would I lose power by not keeping the newer one (does anyone know the hp/tq rating on a 00 durango)? How about a performance computer, I do a fairamount of towing and dont want to lose my bottom end? any help would be cool, and thanks in advance! Btw, I know some of you had to have done this swap, was it worth it? were the gains fairly signifigant? how about milage?

You don't need the Durango wiring harness or computer. You can use your 318 stuff.

Order yourself a flexplate for a 2000 Durango 5.9, should cost you about $30. That will let you mate the motor to your tranny and torque converter (the 360 is externally balanced while your 318 was not).

All of your 318 stuff will bolt right on, brackets, accessories, alternator, etc. You can use all of it.

I'd leave the heads on the Durango if the mileage is that low. You will need to use the intake manifold off of your 318 since a '93 had EGR and the '00 Durango did not. The nice thing is it will bolt right onto your 360. You'll also need to use your 318 throttle body. You won't lose any performance doing that since it's bores are the same as the 360 - but you need to use your 318 throttle body because of EGR considerations also.

You can use your 318 fuel injectors but I'd consider getting a new set base on the mileage on them. You can't use the '00 Durango injectors if you have them, they are a different style connection.

Your best bet on a computer would be a 360 computer. I'd normally recommend a performance computer but that's not the best choice if you tow. Try running it with the 318 computer, I know guys who have done that. And OBD-I is more forgiving in that respect. Good luck.

my chilton manual says that a 96 5.9l makes about 230hp/330tq, but some one here said that a '01 5.9 makes 250/345. is there a mech. difference (cam, heads, ect.) or is it in the computer?
