I know that I can get my ECU flashed from Mike leach, B&G etc. but want to be able to do it myself. I realize that I will probably require an eeprom programmer, software etc. but I have the technical background to do it, just need a list of required hardware/software. It would also be nice to get the source code listing for the various model year ECUs. Also, I believe that our ECUs have some limited reprogramming thru the diagnostic port. Any one out there with any info ?

The hardware is pretty easy. The source code listing and other various software is going to set you back about $50,000 or more. Just ask 01graphiteRT......

Tom, FWIW all of the programming can be done through the diag port with a laptop, but the unfortunate thing is the "best" tools for this are not available on the consumer level and as Alex noted, they are quite expensive.

The handheld tuners from companies like Hypertech and Superchips also program through the diag port. Of the two companies, I would give the nod to Superchips. While their offerings are limited, that should improve over the coming months and I wouldn't be surprised to see something for the 4.7 at some point.
