 Subject: 5.3 gmc vs. 5.2 dakota

Here's the deal: In one corner, you've got a stock 2001
GMC Sierra, 5.3 ltr.V8, auto, w/ 40,000 miles. In the
other corner (me), a 1997 Dakota, 5.2 ltr. V8, auto, drop
in K&N filter & flowmaster exhaust, w/ 40,000 miles. So,
what sort of chance do I have? What about HP & weight
on each truck?

You CC or RC??
Silverado RC about same weight as Dakota CC. About the same RWHP numbers.

One more thing. You WILL take him off the line. The Silverado's have a better top end, and run better from a roll than a stop.

One thing I do know is that a 4.7 will take them both, off the line and in the long run.
Otherwise, the Dodge will take it off the line, lighter, GM motor might have more power for the end
clean&shiny is good, mud&dirt is better
