i just had a quick question i am gona get a flowmaster for my truck, just the muffler i am going to do the whole system later i just need somethig to make my truck sound like the beast it is. I am getting either the 40 or the 50 series but i was wondering which would be better. I want something loud and deep and with good power and i was wondering how both of these are. Also which one do i need exactly, i dont know which one to order, i still have stock pipes. thanks

well the 50 is really deep and quiet, the 40 series is deep until about 2500rpms then it starts flowing too much and getting a rushing sound, if it were me i would get a borla, and i will this summer to replace my 40 series, BTW your not gonna see a power increase from just swaping mufflers if you do it will be in the 1-3 range

Hey QuietDak I have a 92 Dakota swb reg cab with a 318 and i have had the borja and the 50 series flowmaster and the 40 series is the best out of them all it sounds the best anyway so if you want the beast sound get rid of the cats and get the 40 series and also the mufflers will make no differ in horsepower but getting rid of the cats will.

I had the flowmaster 40 series on my truck for 3 hours they sound deep and mean but there way to loud and way to much popping, I had it changed out for the magnaflow and that is a better sounding muffler by far, I also lost alot of low end with the flowmaster.

I have a 5.2L and a Flowmaster 50 series, and I like it. However, if you want a loud, agressive sound, I would say get the 40 series. The 50 series gives a nice deep rumble, but nothing overpowering...just enough to let others know you have a V8 under the hood.

I have the 40 series 3"inlet/2.5"dual out.
original not the Delta Flow. I like the sound
in and out of the truck. You can listen to their
different mufflers at www.flowmastermufflers.com

I agree with stephen on this, i have had a 40 series on my R/T before and it is the loudest that they made, so i thought, until i found the 10 series, good old one chamber, but since im only 21, i love loud and interior noise is no matter to me, the third cat is gone and the truck is loud as hell, but thats just my 2 cents

The exhaust shop I had my muffler put on at accidentally put on a 50 series and after I drove it around I was like WTF? It was way too quiet and you could barely tell I had a cam so I took it back and had them swap it out for the 40 series.

I've had the 10, 40 & 50 series installed on my truck...I had the 10 series taken off because it was too annoying at WOT sounded great at idle or cruize though. I can't tell you how many people I've had ask me what kind of exhaust I've got...love the attention it gets!

40 series has my vote!

Just got my flowmasters this month, Got them dumped by the rear axle since the stock system isn't set up for duals. Ran a single in to a dual outlet 2.5 in. At first I thought it might be too loud but after a few days I got used to the sound and I love it!! Not too loud but those around you know that you are there!!! Rice rockets just run away and even Mustangs and Trans Ams and the like wonder whats under the hood? Eventually I may run duals out the back and that may elliminate some interior noist. Had a difference in opinion by several exhaust pros and Over all I chose the 40's. With the 40's you will get more sound during gear changes than with the 50's I love mine!!!!! What ever you choose flowmasters are far better than glasspacks!

Hammers,

Which 1 in ---> 2 out did you go with? I am looking to do the same thing & I am not sure what offset I should use with my '02 q-cab 360.

Thanks,
Zardoz
