I just installed my new Magnalflow muffler on my '02 QC 4.7 auto that I got for a sweet deal from another member of this site. All I can say is WOW! I really wasn't expecting THAT much of a difference. It sounds great. Doesn't sound like a redneck farm truck. It has a nice deep rumble and mean growl. It's a perfect compliment to the 360 AirIntakez.

Best $105 I've spent in a while! The muffler cost $65 shipped and I paid $40 cash at a local muffler shop for the install. Can't beat that with a stick!

When you say "WOW", are u referring to the sound only or did you notice any performance increase as well?

I don't have a calibrated butt dyno, so I can't say for sure if I got any performance increase. My guess would be yes. Certainly no loss.

Sounds alot like the flow tech I just put on this weekend. Sweet low tone and feels like it pulls alil more in the high rpms. Think it lost a tiny bit of torque though.

You can get the 2 1/2" Flow Tech for around $50 at O'Riellys and and extra $3 for clamps, 1 hr later...VVVVRROOOMMMM!!!

Andrew...I'm glad you like the muffler, Magnaflows are quality pieces...wish I had your 4.7 instead of my 3.9...it'd still be on my truck instead of yours! I love happy endings, though...P

Just got one myself on my 02 4.7. I did the 3" cat back Magnaflow and it sounds great. Recent trip towing a 2500lb trailer saw less downshifts and 2-3 mpg improvement. Also did a homemade intake with k&n cone filter ($75 total). A little loud inside when accelerating but hey, I kinda like that!

For the loud intake...if you use the original..."air hat" (square jobby) instead of running the 3" stuff right up to the throttle body, you'll get less noise while towing. Been there done that. I don't think it gave me any less power. There isn't a restirction in it anyway. The buttdyno says so...

I had a flowmaster 40 with 3 pipes from cats back installed this morning, I drove it for few hours and went back to shop told them it was way to loud They cut it off and put Magnaflow on there No charge, Big difference much better I lost alot of low end with that flowmaster and got it right back with the magnaflow.

AndrewM,

You have a part number for your 4.7l. I think I might do that now. Where did you get it?

Thanks,

I guess I need to crawl under there again. Is it a center/center, offset/center, or an offset/offset off the top of your head? Check this guy out. $55

I don't know if I'm in right place but,
I have question I have 97 dakota ext Cab 4x4 sb
w/5.2L and I am putting in a Magnaflow Catback
system in. Does someone know if the intermediate
pipe has to be cut or not???

I'm not sure what you mean by intermediate pipe. If you mean the pipe in between the cat and the muffler, then yes. The magnaflow cat-back is just that, a cat-back. Everything after the cat is cut I believe and replaced with their piping.

I'm not not 100% sure on this though so you may want to give magnaflow a call.

I suggest upgrading your cat to a carsound as well. You'll be happy with it.
