Subject: 5.2 people: Normal temperature??

Hey all that have 5.2's. After normal driving around town, what temperature does your gauge read. I had a 3.9 that always stayed near the 130 side. My 5.2 reads straight in the middle? IS this normal

no, its not normal for the gauge to be in the mid point. that is a little hot. i would check for a partially stuck thermostat or just go ahead and replace it, they are under $10.

How often do you flush your rad? I had a problem with the engine getting a bit hot..... dodge dealer said it was fine...... found out AFTER 36K miles that the lower part of my rad was blocked....... take your truck to someone that has one of the lazer temp gauges and see if the top of the rad is hotter than the bottem ....

I live in louisiana, and mine always ran very hot. I just installed a new radiator from performanceradiator.com, a hypertech 180deg thermostat, and DEI radiator relief. CANNOT UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCES get the engine temp to break 180deg (well, except possibly in neutral at 5000RPM's). I am very pleased with the results.

My 5.2 runs like a champ around 200-210 degrees normally. I think you are fine with your reading.
