Message: I can tell you right now you need to pitch that pos intake and make your own. You'll flow better air! 5.2 I imagine? Did you buy from a dealer or individual? If an indiv. then call and ask if they know and if not I couldn't tell ya. I wouldn't think so though if all she has is an airraid then I doubt it.
just my $0.02 worth

Message: I bought this truck from a dealer so I have no idea of its history, it has the 4.7 in it and it has plenty of power. you think the airaid is POS?? would I really benefit spending $150 to $200 on a different air intake? I live in AZ and it gets very hot here for 6 months of the year so a good cold air intake really would help I think.

Message: The air raid intake is just as good any other intakes out there for the 4.7. The stock intake already pulls the air from the wheel well (away from the engine) and the air raid should partially seal to the top of the hood. The stock intake is probably pretty close to any other intake you can get for it. As long as you put a K&N filter in it. Depends on how much noise you want. My 2 cents.

Message: From my own personal experience, the cold air tubes rob low end torque and improve top end power.
I have no dyno figures to back this up, but I could feel a difference immediatly when I put my stock set-up back on for inspection.

Message: My friend w/ the 4.7 RC 5 speed LSD noticed a big difference on the track we took his air raid off put his $40 homebrew on there w/ a k&n and it helped he said. with a little hood scoop and a little heat sheild you can fit an oval k&n on the stock TB and really move some air and its just as good if no better....again this from one of those d@mn R/T owners...LOL

Message: AZDAK thanks for offer, I am going to just replace the Airaid filter with a K&N thats it. I am not going to go mod crazy with this truck I went through that phaze with my GT and was a waste of time for so little gains, just as long as truck feels peppy around town is good with me.

Dyno was reading low that day:

Message: kids like to burn tires so if the ones on the back aren't fresh check to see if one (drivers side i think) has more wear than the other, this would indicate tire spinning. my guess would be that most kids can't afford a 2001 though. i'm not sure however, why it's an airraid instead of a K/N (whether or not its worth $200 is debatable). as for removing badging, it just gives a clean look that i personally really like and anybody could have done it. if it runs good, probably don't worry about it too much.

Message: I think it was someone my age your right about a kid affording a 20,000 truck, there would be more mods than just intake if it was a lead foot.
