Message: I've got a 2000 4.7, but I'm having to replace the PCM. The dealer is ordering a new part, so does that mean I'm gonna have a 2001+ comp with no aftermarket available now? I know the coding is different, but are the two interchangeable? I'm getting the truck in an hour, hoping I don't get the death flash tho I think I will, but I don't know how to tell if it's a 2000 PCM or not just by looking at it..

Message: This sucks balls, cause it's gonna be another $350 or so, but it may be time to call Kenne Bell. If you can manage to wait long enough, I think there's a guy that will be hooking up the 4.7 guys including the '01s & up. He just needs time to get it all programmed.

Otherwise, I think KB may be your answer for the short term.....

Message: Do you happen to know if I got a 2001+ or a 2000? Or how to tell?

Most of my mods are gonna weight, I don't even wanna face the depression of going back to the track till I get the computer fixed.

I guess you're referring to the optimizer II? That's an addon chip right?

Message: i found out that when you order a truck with ac the use different size pulleys so when you go get a belt that is for a truck without ac it wont fit yours. i have a 01 rt and i ended up having to buy pas the powersteering and ac before i found a belt that fit. i think it was a 56 or a 58 in belt that worked.

Message: Mike D, I thought you had an R/T??

Well the one Alex is talkin about is one for the 4.7 that bypasses the power steering, but NOT the alternator like his original short belt did. The A/C pulley is still in use, I see now way you CAN bypass that, and keep things spinning in the same direction. It's just too big in diameter, it seems the belt will touch it any way I can figure to route it. That pulley is pretty darn free-spinning though, when the a/c is not turned on.

Message: Oh, and if you or anyone else wants the part number for this belt I described on a 4.7, the one I used was Kelly Springfield part number 672K6 (6 rib, 1.7M)

It totally works just fine, and the routing around the alternator caused no loss of power.

I ran a 14.53 @ 92 mph with the "really short" belt that missed the p/s pump and alternator.

I ran a 14.53 @ 92 mph with the "short belt" that missed just the p/s pump. But now I can run the a/c and roll down the power windows & stuff. It's cool.....

Message: The few times, one actually, I had warranty work done, I told the service writer guy, the one that takes the truck for you and writes it all down, NOT, to flash my PCM. I told him I had no issues with pinging, and he said they wouldn't, and they didn't, whew!

Message: Old one shorted and fried, the new one had no programming, not much I could do. Doesn't matter really, when I get the cams I'm getting a flash anyways, so it won't be for long :)

 Must....stay...optimistic!
