This looks like the best design yet for the 4.7, if the fipk gets 7 hp I bet this is closer to 10, but I'd like to know if anyone has tried it yet and could give me any info whether positive or negative.

mine sould be here tomorrow. i will let you know what i think. i am not expecting a lot from it personaly.10hp, i seriously doubt it. i like it
because it retains the stock filter set up with snorkel and it looks cool. i probably will replace s&b filter with amsoil ts filter anyway and the stock set-up isnt bad at all from what i learned here. plus i didnt want to take out flap and and put in bent up for-sale signs for marginal gains.(inside joke)

Ian, didnt arrive yet but as soon as it does i will throw it in and let you know.

Texas Todd, sorry about the mistake. all your mods do add up i know, glad to see you have sense of humor.

i hear that magical truck of yours gets something like 40mpg.

btw i am not sure about leaving clutch fan off in summer. not that i dont believe you but do you spend an hour in stop and go traffic when its 90+ like i will be especially on fridays. do you Texans even have stop lights down there? :)

I drive in and out of parking lots all day inspecting properties. It was 80 here in Dallas today and my 4.7 hit over 210 on the gage (just barely) while sitting idling. Theres no way Im taking the fan clutch off.

just installed kool shot air intake and s&b filter. i like it.i was worried i wouldnt like the sound without the air hat but it sounds meaner under throttle and no difference at idle to light acceleration. hardest part was taking bar code stickers off hose clamps.

didnt notice much with butt dino, not exactly a professional test driver either. it certainly didnt lose any power.

looks good too, im happy.

hey jeremiah,

40mpg? I wish, but I am very happy with my mpg.

traffic, and mixed hwy/city 17ish, hwy only over 20 easy. NOT babying, going fast, a/c, etc.
remember, heavy quad, slt, tt, hd, 5spd manual, 3.55 lsd.

When you're in 90+ degree weather, and traffic, etc., you'll be running your a/c, right?

Drop a 180degree t-stat in that puppy and nix the belt clutch/fan. If your a/c is on, whether or not the compressor is on, your elec fan is on.

Some others have put in an inexpensive fan relay so it will come on sooner in the temp also. YOU can learn all about it thru a search, I don't have one.

Ian, i would of gotten 13mpg before.

Texas Todd, i removed clutch fan a couple weeks ago and put in flexalite thermostatic switch. run synthetic oil(amsoil), bosch plat +4s 4418s , and now koolshot air intake. unlike yours mine is an auto 4x4(yours isnt 4x4 i believe), otherwise i think my mpgs would be closer to yours.

03 qc 6200 miles.
