Just want to know if anybody is interested in a 5.9L Magnum 360 from a '99 Dakota R/T. I bought it to start on a 408, but don't have the money right now to do it. I can sell it complete (well..almost), or part it out. I know for people who want to do the 408 stroker, it's hard to find someone to sell just the block. The motor has a cracked piston (#7 I believe) but it had no effect on the cylinder walls. The block and heads look to be in good condition--no cracks or obvious problems. The parts missing are exhaust manifolds and throttle body. I do have all the accessory brackets and wiring harness.
Just trying to see if there is any interest in it. If there is, e-mail me. I'm in North Carolina by the way.

if a motor has a cracked piston, then the cylinder wall has to have major damage. i work at engine building shop for the last 23 years and i have never come along a cracked piston w/o having a damaged cylinder. anyways, il buy everything off u for 150 dollars. also, im really 19 yrs old, and all that stuff about the damage is not true. my 2 cents kota

Cracked pistons are caused by a variety of things, and do not always result in cylinder damage. Blown head gaskets/cracked heads (water entering cylinder)will sometimes blow out ring lands or crack the piston and sometimes the cylinder. Over advanced timing will cause it also. Sometimes a piston will crack for no apparent reason. 302 and 289 fords were famous for cracked pistons. Even if the cylinder is damaged, the motor can be bored or that cylinder can be sleeved if necessary in most cases. I raced Hemi's and 440's in the 70's and we had blocks that looked like they were ready for the scrap yard. We did not have the money and the availability of Hemi blocks was such that repair was a necessity back then. I've still got one that has 3 sleeves and 2 repaired "windows" in it. We ran it until about 6 years ago and i plan to use it in a Cuda that I am building. Sorry to be so long winded but I don't like it when people talk about something they know little about.
Hey Carilonakota, is the motor assembled?? Do you have any idea as to shipping charges or what you want for it??

No, the motor is not assembled. I took it apart after I got it to begin the project. It wasn't fully assembled when I got it either. Everything was held in with a few bolts so it would get here, and I got a box-o-sh!t with everything that wasn't in the motor. But I can easily put it together if need be.
I would like to get $400 for everything. I don't have any idea as to what shipping would be. I know it cost around $75 from eastern Kentucky to Charlotte. You could maybe check a few motor freight websites to get an idea.

Shoot an E-mail to Dan (Fastman) Arcand at fastman@attbi.com. He builds 360's to 408's for a living and is always looking for good blocks to start with.
