Well I have a 00' r/t cc and I have not had any trouble what so ever taking s-10s. They can't keep up accelerating and top end is a joke. I think if Chevy ever wants to put up a fight they need to get a new set of balls. Not just slap a ss badge on a full size and ruin the ss name. Everyone is downgrading their engines except Dodge. More POWER to em.

Poor diluted Chevy fan. I have to admit, if I didn't own two ownage Dakotas, I may own a full-size Chevy, but that isn't the case. Why is it Chevy truck guys always talk crap? I've taken many Chevies in both Dakotas, including my friend Brian who (while not being a jerk like some people) loves his older Chevy and has done a LOT to it. Yeah, I surprised him, especially considering he has a 5.7 under the hood versus my 5.2. Chevy trucks are nice, but either they're geared wrong or they need some better engineering.

Let me know when you last took down a Boxter in a 4x4 S10, then I may consider embarassing you. I've got two Boxters under my belt, and not in the quarter. Stupid rich yuppies don't realize those things have limiters stock.

I don't race 4.3's. It's a waist of my time. I've never even had one come close to beating me. There were 2 S10s in my town that had 4.3L 5spds and they both blew up. One of them blew up racing me in my TAURUS. That's right! I beat a 1996 RC 4.3L 5spd S10 with a 1993 Ford Taurus back in 1998. He blew that thing up trying to pass me. I wasn't really even racing him. He was going to cut me off and I just gave the old Ford enough gas to keep him from pulling in front of me. This went on for 3 consecutive red lights. On the 3rd red light he dropped the clutch and red lined her and she blew... I just kept on driving.......

I'll race a 5.3, 5.7, 6.0, 3.8, but I'll just laugh at anyone driving a 4.3L.

Seph,
I was strickly speaking in terms of the Chevy world. Of course I'll race a 5.2L. I don't like racing against cars/trucks that have a tendency to throw parts all over the road....(4.3L)

I've already ran several 4.7L. I've been lucky enough not to have been challenged by a 5spd 4.7L RC. I'm pretty sure I would loose to one of them if the driver knows what he is doing. Most 5.2L owners are too intemidated to pull up next to me. They just don't know what they got. They fear that R/T emblem on the side and it aint all that. It will be soon.

I don't fear anything, I enjoy the thrill, win or lose. Plus I am keeping my truck geared for pulling power as well, because my V6 doesn't pull that 17' Bayliner too well above about 55mph, but my V8 doesn't know it's back there aside from drinking a tad more gas and needing more stopping distance! If I wanted one solely for racing, I'd drop in a HEMI, preferably an old-school 426 HEMI >:D!

This thread seems to be filled with many children who seem to know it all when it fact they don't. I'll just comment on a few things.

1. The Silverado SS is not a bad truck by any means. On paper it has a good amount of both hp and trq but what kills it is the fact that it weighs as much as two blue whales. In my opinion, a r/c R/T should beat the SS if the owner can launch w/o leaving smoke and rubber. The R/T might have less trq and hp on paper but the weight advantage it has swings the hp/weight and trq/weight dramatically in its favor. Even with having power to all wheels, their 60' times are not impressive at all to me. Again, their weight is a huge handicap. Looking at their times, their et's can be very good but the trap speed is low and the 60' times aren't overly impressive. Still, they are not a bad truck but they need a r/c version.

2. 4.3L's..... Should I even waste my time typing? That is not a bad engine at all but it sorry kids, the S10's with this engine pose no threat to either the SS or the R/T. It will need more than just basic mods (exhaust, pullies, etc) to be a worthy opponent. My time can't be wasted when they pull next to me. What's funny is that 9 out of 10 times I see a 4.3L S10, it is driven by a child who thinks he is a hot rod that can take out anything. It is good for a hearty chuckle. Just look at the times on the s10 boards. For how "bad" they are suppose to be, there are so many of them in the 16's and 17's. Please, bs someone else about these trucks.

JC,
This guy wants to challenge me with a Blazer!LOL!
A Blazer weighs almost as much as a Dakota. The only way a blazer would beat an R/T is with heavy modifications. I've ran a couple of the new Blazers that have the 270hp inline under the hood and I beat them. They are easier to beat than 5.3L Silvers.

Besides, I said I don't waist my time on 4.3L's.
