Well I am in the market for a new 2003 CC 4x4 dak with the 4.7. My current dak is a 2000 with the 4.7 2wd... Currently I ahve a Gibson SS catback and that is the only think I am going to miss from that truck, it sounds great and has very little interior resonance. What mufflers could I put in place of the factory muffler to get pretty close to that sound for less than $130 installed, stainless preferred....

Basically exterior sound-> louder is better
Interior -> little resonance please.

Thanks,
Chris

Try a borla. Flow master doesn't do stainless. Borla is louder than Gibson. They are a little pricey but good mufflers from what I understand. I have a magnaflow #14256. Its stainless straight through design but not very loud. I'm not into loud though I just wanted to be able to tell that I had a V8.

my bud has a borla on his 5.0 and it drones on the highway, I don't want that... and it is quieter tham my 4.7l dak... and I saw that flow now does do stainless for about $100 a muffler.... that is what got me thinking...

So go with the flowmaster. The 40 series is the loudest. The 70 series is the quietest.

I think the answer for me is to stay with the gibson. Will the new exhaust off the ' in place of my gibson so I can have the dealer do the swap?

Any thought son prices for them to do this swap?

Chris

I'm sure the dealer will do it but it will cost you more than some other exhaust shop would. But you could always ask. You never know they may do it for free!

I almost got a Gibson instead of a Magnaflow but the price on the Gibson was a little higher. I've been really satisfied with the magnaflow.

I know the dealer will be more but I doubt they will let me take both trucks, the one i am trading and the one I am buying to a muffler shop on the same day... know what i mean.... Unless i drop the exhaust off the old one before i pick up the new one....

Thats what you should do. And just have the exhaust shop jerrry rig up some piece of crap they have sittin around that will get you to the dealership. Gibson S.S. exhausts aren't cheap.
