Can any body help me? I have a 98 Dakota with a 318 V8 and I am trying to find out how many oxygen sensors it has and where they are located. Any help would be much appreciated.

My '97 has two. One before and one after the catalytic converter. I think the one after is with in a foot or 2 of the cat. The one before is up closer to the engine, I think. I am pretty sure that both are on the passenger side of the vehicle.

I was told that my number 2 oxygen sensor behind the converter was bad. I looked under my truck (03 dakota) and there are two sensors on the same pipe as the converter. would anyone have any idea which of those would be the # 2 sensor

The readout code on my dodge dakota shows P0l6l which is an 02 sensor heater circuit bank 2 sensor 2. Where is this sensor located and how much trouble is it to change?

1996 and later vehicles have OBDII emissions, which means there is one O2 sensor upstream of a catalytic converter (between the engine and the cat), and one downstream of it to measure its efficiency.

bank 1 sensor 1 - left side upstream
bank 1 sensor 2 - left side downstream
bank 2 sensor 1 - right side upstream
bank 2 sensor 2 - right side downstream

After having a drunk ex friend help me change
out my tranny and clutch, my second plug got
ripped out from the wiring when the old
tranny hit the floor. My question is since
there aren't many v-8 Dakota in the junkyard
in the 1997 model year, could I splice a v-6
plug into my wiring harness? Is there a
difference between v-8 and v-6 wiring on the
second o2 sensor?
