Subject: performance suggestions?
IP: Logged

Message:
I have a 1993, 5.2L Dakota cc, I was wondering if anyone had any performance tips or mods that they could share with me. My truck is driven on a daily basis so I don't want to do anything too crazy/expensive. I just want to beat those punks in Hondas sooooo bad.
Thanks

Thanks for the suggestions.
Just a few questions;
Where do I relocate the IAT sensor to?
How do I adjust the TPS to .7v ?
What is the S-bolt, and where can I get it?
Thanks again.

IAT sentsor... you want to relocate it from the intake manifold to the air intake tube (cold air intake) about 6 inches from the throttle body.

the TPS sensor is on the throttle body, you check the voltage and if it is higher or lower than .7...( .65-.77) is ok then you adjust... for instructions go to www.speedtweaks.com under there tips and tricks page there are really good directions...

an S bolt replaces the bolt that holds the air hat on... you make one your self... get 6" of 1/4" x20 all thread from the hardware store... you will bend it so it fits... speedtweaks has directions in the same place or search www.dodgetrucks.org hope this helps.

This may sound dumb but I don't know much about doing these kind of mods. When you say to relocate the IAT sensor to about 6 inches from the throttle body, where exactly do you mean? To which direction? And how exactly do you reattach it? Thanks

you attach it in the intake tube... between the air filter and the top of the throttle body... it just unscrews from the intake manifold (make sure you plug the hole with a plumbing stop from home depot) and screw it in the intake tube roughly 6 inches away from the throttle body. Read the directions on speedtweaks or go to www.dodgetrucks.org and post a thread or do a search... you will get a lot of hits for the technical ?'s there.

The TPS mod is not for HP, but really for throttle response. IAT could net you slightly higher HP because it is reading a better air intake temp (rather than sitting in a higher temp upper intake manifold). Intake and Exhaust mods, when combined, will give you a decent gain and better engine response. Just don't go too big on the overall diameter of the piping (and make sure to use a High Flow Cat). Plugs can help out with the idle and engine response as well (and help prevent knocking/pre detonation). Cap and rotor will help slightly with HP. Synthetic oil is another often overlooked way to improve power and mileage (not to mention engine longevity). Less resistance is better than more, hence more power and better mileage.
