 Subject: Transmission fluid check?

hey i need to check the level of my tranny fluid in my 97 5.2L v8 5spd Dakota. there is no dipstick in the engine bay and i looked under the truck and cant find a place where fluid can be added? any replies will help.

There should be a drain/ fill plug on the side of the transmission case itself. Crawl under the truck and look again.

i read the manual and it says something about checking the filler plug, but i cant find it. also im 99&% sure that there is no trans fluid dipstick. any other place i should check?

Are you sure you're not thinking of the transfer case, it has a fill plug and no dipstick
